Meet the coaches

Dan Barrie (USPTA Elite Professional)

Director/Head Pro

BTA Director, Dan has been teaching tennis in Bahrain since 2000, bringing 6 years of experience with Toptenn Tennis Academy, one of Australia’s largest tennis academies, to the island. He and his staff have taught at St Christopher’s School, the British Club, the Dilmun Club and the British School of Bahrain.

Dan is the former Director of Tennis at Indian Head Camp, Pennsylvania, USA where he managed a team of 11 staff working 11 courts and designed and implemented the tennis program for the 500+ campers.

Dan is the only teaching professional in Bahrain certified as an Elite Professional by the United States Professional Tennis Association, the world’s oldest and largest organization of tennis teaching professionals.

Dan regularly attends the USPTA’s World Conference on Tennis to ensure he stays up to date with the very latest teaching methods and technologies. There he meets with and learns from some of the game’s great coaches, many of whom have worked with today’s top players, and passes on this valuable information to his staff.

Dan has practiced with some of the world’s top players, including 9-time French Open Champion Rafael Nadal, at the Dubai Tennis Championships. This provided valuable behind the scenes insights into the tournament preparations of professional players.

Dan and his staff provide professionally structured programs for both kids and adults, from those just starting out (from 3yrs) to players with professional aspirations. BTA strives to provide the highest quality tuition in a fun environment with continual opportunities for progression.

Sister School: Toptenn Tennis Academy

BTA is a sister school to Toptenn Tennis Academy, Melbourne’s largest and most progressive tennis school and TieBreak Tennis Academy, both directed by legendary tennis professional Peter Owen (USPTA Elite Professional) who is at the forefront of Australian tennis. Pete, former coach of BTA Director, Dan Barrie, has been helping shape the future of the tennis industry for decades, having introduced numerous groundbreaking programs over the years through dozens of schools and clubs. In Dec 2011 Pete’s contributions were recognised by Tennis Australia when he was awarded the Australian Club Coach of the Year, an amazing and much deserved honour. Congratulations Pete and Toptenn!
